History of Alisagar Deer Park

A reservoir or a man-made lake is part of Alisagar Deer Park. The name of the reservoir is also Alisagar. Before this park was constructed, the reservoir was built. Thus, on the name of this reservoir, the name of the park was given. In 1931, the Nizam of the state built this reservoir and later in the year 1985, the deer park was established with an aim to offer a safe haven to several species of deer. A natural habitat was created for the deer.

Rich and lavish lifestyle of the region’s Nizam’s is also reflected in the Alisagar Deer Park. The scenic attractions of the area are further enhanced by hillocks that surrounds the park almost enveloping it and beautifully landscaped gardens. Rows of differently colored flowers add attraction to this place.

Flora and Fauna of Alisagar Deer Park

Dense vegetation can be witnessed in this region. The forests are dry and deciduous in character. Deers of various species are offered refuge here, and that makes the major attraction of the park. They are different in their characteristics, appearance and habits. Besides deer, other animals that can be spotted here are Jackal Muntjack, Wolves, Fishing Cats, Wild Dog, Jaguars, Sloth Bear, Panther, Tiger, Fox, Wild Boar, Gaur, Langur, the Salt-Water Crocodiles, Mandrills, Rhesus monkey, Olive Baboons, Sacred Baboons, Bonnet Monkey, Lions, Pumas, Hyena, Jackals, Pythons, variety of snakes, and others. A wide array of birds can also be seen in the park including Grey Pelicans, Pied Horn Bills, Rosy Pelicans, Painted Storks, Ducks, Peacocks, Love Birds and others. Cockatiels, Budgerigars, and Hippopotamus can also be spotted here.
