Rock Fort

The spectacular Rock Fort Temple, the landmark of the city, is on the shores of the Kaveri. It is perched on a massive rocky outcrop at an altitude of 83 m above sea level.

Srirangam

The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam, situated 6 km north of the city, is among the most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu in South India, and is the largest temple complex in the world.

Thiruvanaikkaval

This is one of the most revered temples to Shiva; it is one of the Panchabhoota Stalams signifying the 5 elements of wind (Kalahasti), water (Tiruvanaikka), fire (Tiruvannamalai), earth (Kanchipuram) and space (Chidambaram). The primordial element water, is represented by an undying natural spring in the sanctum.

Samayapuram

The Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is located 12 kms north of the city junction on Trichy-Chennai NH 45.The Maariamman Temple is one of the most visited shrines in Tamilnadu, dedicated to Maariamman, a manifestation of the primeval energy Shakti as the mother Goddess.

Jambukeshwara Temple

The Jambukeshwara Temple (Thiruvanaikaval), dedicated to Lord Shiva, is situated just 2 km east of Srirangam and houses five concentric walls and seven gopurams. Legend has it that an elephant once worshipped the Lord under the holy Jambu tree, and hence the name Jambukeshwara. The principal deity is the Shiva lingam, almost submerged in water, which flows from the subterranean spring in the sanctum sanctorum.

St. John's Church

This Chruch was built in 1821. It is completed with louvered doors and the usual array of florid plaques to the faithfully departed , most of whom seem to have fallen victim to Cholera ,Malaria (or) Enemy bullets. This church is nearer the Teppakulam. The Doors of the church ,is when opened leads to a convent with wide and airy pavilion.

St. Lourd's Church

Located just opposite to rockfort’s teppakulam. An important place for Christian people’s prayer. The deity seen here is called The Lady Lourdes is a remembrance and symbol of Lourdes Basillica of Lourdes (Lourdes is an important and famous pilgrimage in world located in southern France). The Church of Our Lady of Lourd, a hundred years old, is built within the St.Joseph’s College complex, in gothic architectural style (it is said that a maistry from Tirunelveli, one Savarimuthu, was given intensive training in such construction by the missionaries so that he could supervise the building), the Church’s 200 ft tall spire is visible from a radius of 8 kms around it.

The Church has not been a repainted outside as the administrators wish to preserve its antiquity. The stained glass panels depicting stories from the Bible are truly beautiful. Some 6000 people attend mass at the church on Sundays. The Church, our Lady of Lourd is 100 years old. Tourists of every faith visit the church right through the year. Local citizens, of all faiths, never fail to pause and fold their hands in prayer when they pass the gates of the church. Church of our Lady of Lourdes is the replica of the Basilica of Lourdes, the World famous place of pilgrimage in southern France .It is a remarkable feat of Indian craftsmanship and stained glass drawings.

Natharvalli Dargah

This Dharga (Mosque) is situated in an important place and it is a Holy place of worship for Muslim people. It has got a history of about 1000 years. Festival celebrated here called URS attracts many Islam community people from allover the country to here. People believe that they realize themselves when they come here and hence the feel satisfied in a divine sprit. Baba Natharvali has occupied a unique position in the ranks of the Islamic saints of the world. He was named as Muthaharudeen at first. He was in Hijiri 347 in one of the idle Eastern countries. Even though he was the sultan, he was having no attachment to pleasures of royal life of pomp and splendor right from his early age. He descended from his throne crowing his brother, Syed Jalaudeen and undertook holy pilgrimage for propagation of Allah's glory according to Islamic tenets.

During this time, he had wrought a lot of miracles to the astonishment of the people, who came into contact with him. This a part with his 900 kalandars, he set foot in Tiruchirapuram, which s now known as Tiruchirappalli. He led a pious saintly life with his kalandars in a flower garden in Tiruchirappalli.Saint Baba Natharvali's body was laid to rest in a place where it was once a Easwaran temple in a room. Constructed with four doors according to Vedic sastras and seppulingam is a witness to ghee lamp burning near the grave of Baba.The saint breathed his last on the 15th of the month of Ramzan in Hijiri 417 and with a view to remember this day, the first 17days in the month of Ramzan every year kanduri Urs is celebrated in a highly grand scale it is a unique feature to see Muslims, Hindus and Christians assemble to pay their homage and warm respects to Baba Natharvali on the eve of the kanduri festival and seek his graceful blessings.
