This Hospital was started in 1858 as a Dispensary.
Converted into a Hospital in 1871.
Modified into a Municipal Hospital in 1884.
In 1920 became Govt. Hospital with a Bed Strength of 80.

There was an ANM Training School in 1962 which became Nursing School to train Staff Nurses later.
The District Head Quarters Hospital was converted into a Teaching Medical College Hospital in 1990.
Out-Patient Departments like Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, STD and Tuberculosis are functioning between 7.30 AM and 12.00 Noon and Medicine, Surgery Out Patient Departments are functioning between 3.30 PM and 5.30 PM.
Psychiatric O.P. is run daily and treatment is also given to all the patients.
De-addiction Programme is being carried out by the Psychiatric Department.
Geriatric O.P. is done weekly once.
Hypertension Clinic is being run twice in a week.
