Born 15 Sept 1909 at Kanchipuram in a middle class family (to Mr. Natarajan and Mrs. Bangaru Ammal)
Studied at Pachiyappa's High school and at Pachiyappa's college, Madras (Graduated with B.A (Hons).
Got involved in politics even while at Govindappa Naicker School in Madras
Became a follower of E.V.R (Ramacami Periyar) and joined Justice Party (renamed as Dravida Kazhagam in 1944), worked as Sub-Editor for "Justice"
1942: started Tamil weekly "Dravidanaadu"
1949: Left with EVR to form a new party "Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)
1957: DMK wins 15 seats in the Tamilnadu State Assembly Election and CNA becomes the Leader of Opposition.
1959: DMK captures majority of seats in civic elections
1962: DMK wins 50 seats in State Assembly and CNA gets elected as Member of Parliament (MP)
1967: DMK wins State election with landslide victory (138 out of 173 seats) and CNA sworn in as Chief Minister
1968: received Hony. Doctorate from Annamalai University
