Mudumalai Wild Life Sanctuary

The Mudumalai sanctuary lies on the northern and north-western side of the Nilgiri (Blue Mountains), about 80 km north-west of Coimbatore in the extreme north-western corner of Tamil Nadu, on the interstate boundaries with Karnataka and Kerala states in southern India. Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is an extension of Bandipur National Park. The river Moyar flows and the park is ideal for bird watching, the national park falls on the boarder of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The place is the nest of colorful razz and in the winters the whole atmosphere fills with the vibrancy and life.

Located in the thick forests of the northern Nilgiris, Mudumalai is famous for its wildlife sanctuary. It is noted among one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries of India. Nestled amidst the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu, Mudumalai is a part of the greater Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The range of wildlife is the same as in Bandipur (another famous sanctuary near it) but the Mudumalai has two features which makes it different from its neighbor-the Moyar river, and proximity to the Nilgiri mountain ranges which give it wider access to varied wildlife including elephants and gaurs.

Mudumalai Wild Life Sanctuary / Bandipur National park is best suited for bird watching and is home to many varieties of birds. We have an experienced person to take you on a trek. He is very familiar with all routes into the Estates which are a part of the jungle. We do not provide equipments required to make you're trekking easy and enjoyable. Please do carry your own trekking equipments, accessories and clothes. The adventurous fun you are going to have during your vacation in India is unlimited and you will remember it all throughout your life. It is advisable not to take children on the long trek. The children are sure to enjoy the walk up to the river. Return back from trek before 6 pm as it gets very dark after that and it is not safe.
