The Famous Mudumalai wild life Sanctuary is situated at an elevation of 1000 metres and extends over an area of 321 sq.mts. This sanctuary lies between Kerala and Karnataka states. This is India's one of the best sanctuaries. Nature has been lavish in providing this sanctuary with thickly wood hills, Plateaus, deep valleys, waterfalls, rivers, marshes and streams. Mudumalai Sanctuary, rich in bio-diversity and dense vegetation, is sandwiched between the Bandipur and Annamalai sanctuaries, and together the three form the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in the Western Ghats. The Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary has varied mixture of flat land, undulating parkland, open grassland, swamp and valleys . The best season to visit the sanctuary is during March-June.

Take a left turn into Allur road immediately after the Mudumalai forest check post in Thorapalli when you are coming from Mysore. The road is right opposite RTO Check Post. Follow the tar road to Jungle Home located immediately after the BSNL cell phone tower. It is only 100meters from the Mysore Ooty highway / Bangalore Ooty road.

Air: The nearest airport is at Coimbatore, 160-km away. Or Bangalore which is 220 km away or take a flight to Calicut (kozikode) which is just 140 km away and has recently been upgraded as a international airport. From Coimbatore, Calicut or Bangalore you can hire a taxi to get there.

Rail: The cottage is located at a distance of 50-km from Udhagamandalam railway station and 95-km from Mysore station.

Road: You can travel by bus or car from near by cities such as Bangalore, Mysore, Coimbatore, Calicut and Ooty.

There are frequent bus facilities available from Bangalore and Mysore. You can board an Ooty Bus in Bangalore or Mysore, asks the bus driver to stop right after the Mudumalai forest check post / RTO check post at Thorappalli. From the check post the cottage is only a 2 minutes walk.
