Patteswarar Temple, Perur, Coimbatore.
Built by Karikala Cholan, the temple is at its colourful best in March, when the 'Panguni Uthiram' is celebrated. SHIVA, the presiding deity of this temple is known as 'Patteeswarar' and his consort Parvathi is known as 'Panchanayaki'. The temple upholds huge statues. The sculptures that are on the walls of the 'Kanagasabai' clearly reflect the eminence of the then sculptors.
The statues of Gajasamhara, Virabadra, Bikshadana, Oordhva Thandava, Saraswathi with Veena all rival one another in artistic perfection. The temple is 7kms away from Coimbatore and is situated on the banks of River Noyyal. The temple is kept open for worship between 05.00AM to 12.00 PM and 03.00 PM to 08.00 PM. Perur Patteeswara Swamy temple is the most popular temple in the city. Built by the King Karikala Cholan, this temple is situated 7 kms west of Coimbatore near river Noyyal.The presiding deity is Shiva and the 'Swayambu Lingam' is the idol worshipped here. This sanctum is the joint effort of the Chola, Hoysala and Vijayanagara rulers during their reign. The greatest attraction of the temple is the 'Kanaka Saba' or the golden hall which is adorned by a gold plated statue of Nataraja bestowing blessings upon the two sages - Gowmuni and Pattimuni.
The gopurams and pillars of the hall are exquisitely carved out sculptures highlighting Dravidian architecture.The significance of Perur temple in earlier days are unfolded in the poetic creations of Arunagiri Nather and Kachiappa Munivar. The temple stands on the banks of the holy river Noyyal called 'Kanchi Manadi' by the locals. Pilgrims from all over visit this spot to pay homage to their ancestors. It is believed that the mortal remains of the dead turn into white stones after about 144 days.
Murugan Temple, Marudhamalai is 12 kms from the Railway Station.
This is a small natural hill lying to the west of Coimbatore. More than 800 years old, the presiding deity is Lord Subramaniaswamy. The temple dedicated to Lord Murugan is at a height of 600 feet from the foot of the hill. The flight of steps are interspread with attractive mandapams.Though shorn of all sculptural and architectural glories, the hilly background of this temple compensates for their absence and makes it an attractive picnic spot even from the point of view of an holiday-maker.

Maruthamalai temple is 12kms from Coimbatore and the presiding deity is Lord Dhandayuthapani. Apart from steps, with resting mantaps there is also a motorable ghat road to reach the temple that is situated on a hillock. The temple was renovated in 1996 and a 'Mahakumbhabhisekam' was performed then. Special pooojas and abhisekhams are done apart from the regular Kiruthigai. It is considered as true that Lord Dhandayuthapani has performed a number of miracles to help and to please his devotees. The temple is kept open during 05.00AM to 12.00 PM and 02.00 PM to 08.00 PM. Bus routes are 1, 11, 92, S12, S15, S26, etc.
The Sharadambal Temple
The Sharadambal temple in Coimbatore was built in 1979 by the then Peedathipathi of Sharada Matt of Shringeri. The temple enshrines Goddess Sharadhambal. It is believed that the Goddess is very powerful and she grants the wishes of her devotees. The temple has small shrines for Lord Ganesha, Lord Muruga and Guru Adi Shankarar. Navarathri is the main festival that is celebrated with pomp and grandeur. All nine days the temple hosts 'kolu' and conducts special poojas and celebrations like Bhajans and dances. The temple has a Kalyana Mandapam and the Trust that maintains the temple is planning to start a Veda Pada Salai to teach Vedas and Upanishads in Sanskrit.
Arulmigu Echanari Vinayakar Temple, Coimbatore.
Lord Vinayagar is the residing deity of Eechanari Temple. The temple is at Pollachi Main Road, Eechanari. The idol that is 6 feet tall with 3 feet breadth was being transited from Madurai to Perur, during which the wheel of the conveyance gave away at Eechanari. Efforts to take the idol to Perur did not help. So it came to stay in Eechanari.
The temple was completed on 03.06.77. The temple has a committee to administer the poojas and functions. The temple is kept open between 5.00AM to 10.00PM. The special pooja for the idol is done at 6.30 AM and at 6.30 PM everyday. Special poojas are done during Kiruthikai, Poornima, Amavasya and Chathurthi. Sree Ayyappa Temple
Sree Aayappa Temple situated is in Sree Aayappa road, Sidhapudur, Coimbatore. The temple was built in 1976 by the Trust called Sri Dharma Sastha Baktha Jana Sabha. The trust wanted to build an Aayappa temple in Coimbatore similar to that of the one in Sabarimala. And their wish was realised.
The poojas and other religious rituals are observed similar to the fashion in Sabarimala. The temple is open from 5.00 AM to 9.00 PM. Daily Poojas are done in the early hours and in the evening. Seasonal Poojas are done on a large scale during Sabarimala season.
Bannari Amman Temple
This temple is located in BANNARI ( 83 km from Coimbatore and 10 km from Bhavanisagar ), nearer to SATHYAMANKALAM (also known as SAKTHI ), ERODE district, TAMILNADU state of INDIA . This temple is famous for the GUNDAM irrangum vizhla.
