Yanam is one of the regions in the Union Territory of Pondicherry, which is 870 Kms away from it. It is situated on the East Coast of the Indian Peninsula between 16 degrees 42' northern latitude, and between 82 degree 11' Eastern longitude bounded on all sides by the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh State.

Yanam has a mixed culture of French and Dravidian. People of Yanam are more polite and respectable. The people of Yanam are very generous and well cultured. It is located in the East Godavari District, which is the highest rice producer in AndhraPradesh State. They speak Telugu language as their Mother Tongue. But, many people knows Tamil, English and French. We cand still find about 60 French Nationals in Yanam who are taking Pensions from the French Govt. Due to some relaxation in Tax and other exemptions, lot of Business activities are going in Yanam. Many people are getting employment in these industries/firms.
